Gaia Education is a programme of the Global Ecovillage Network and has developed an Ecovillage Design Curriculum that has the endorsement of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) as an official contribution to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD).
The organization was born out of two meetings of international educators called "GEESE" (Global Ecovillage Educators for a Sustainable Earth) that met at the Findhorn Foundation, Scotland in June of 2004 and again at Galgafarm, Hungary in June of 2005. The current members of GEESE (pictured below) compose the Board and working groups of the organization.
